The adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's 1979 musical by Tim Burton is a great piece of work. You could almost forget about "Batman Returns" after seeing this film...almost. The storytelling style with the songs doing most of the work may take a little getting used to, but it is worth it. I would hope even those who think musicals are not their "cup of tea" would give this film a chance. There's enough blood and violence to make it worth your while.
