A fun movie

Swashbuckler is a perfect film to watch, enjoy and get your mind off life for 1 hour and 45 minutes. While it's definitely not a 'masterpiece', it is a fun, enjoyable time. You cant help but not get caught up in rooting for the pirates.

Robert Shaw does a great job as the charismatic Red Ned Lynch and a thin James Earl Jones is excellent in the role of Nick DeBrett. Genevieve Bujold and Beau Bridges turn in good performances. The only drawback of the film--and this is not the fault of the film--is the antagonist. The 'bad guy' in the movie, the evil Lord Durant, is played by Peter Boyle. Although Boyle was a serious actor in those days, he will always be best remembered for his role of Frank Barrone. Again, no one's fault but it's difficult to see someone best known as a comedic legend play an 'evil' Lord Durant.

All in all, it's an enjoyable entertaining film.
