Welsh scenery was amazing, but the movie itself looked like it was trying too hard to be original. Too many overly-staged shots and punch scenes. This was a bit killing the pace, imo. The lead character was also an odd boy, which made it difficult to like him.
But overall it's a movie about young adults with just enough drama as there is in school and at home. School crowd characters was the strongest part, especially when you compare with American movies with all these screaming overreacting cliche types.
Very good depiction of life in a small village/town in Wales, and how different it seems to be from a similar town in the US.
So it was a nice experience overall, with good original music by Alex Turner, whom I never heard before, minus an overly-weird lead boy and too experimental directing.
