Struck By Lightning is a clever, often funny, and deeply moving story about ambition, torment, and learning to enjoy life while you still can because it's so fleeting. It really stresses how life is about the journey, even if you never reach the destination.
It's an honest portrayal of what it means to be a bitter, damaged outcast with a big dream. Although the main character is sometimes unlikable, with his sharp tongue and unfiltered criticisms, you feel a lot of sympathy for him. Life dealt him a cruel hand, and he hasn't been able to cope with it well. He lashes out at others, desperate to just survive until he can move on to better things and get away from his family. I think everyone can relate to the feelings he expresses, even if you would never dream of behaving as badly as he does.
Amazing performances by several of the lead cast, and altogether a very uplifting film. Can't wait to see it again.
