A parole officer is nearing retirement and is assessing one case of a prisoner convicted of arson who shows no remorse for his crime.
The prisoner too is a ranter and a raver and so gives pause to the conservative christian parole officer who is not much better himself and is in a state of personal crisis.
He is questioning his beliefs, his religion and betrays his wife with the wife of the prisoner and is in disbelief as his own house burns to the ground at the end of the movie. He suspects the prisoner.
The movie is an excellent example of right and left ideas and has a constant stream of religous messages and christian radio ideoliogy blasting on the air.The actors were superb as well.
Grade B for boldly difiant
