Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace(1999)- User Reviews

Most of the previous views are negative, either about the lack of 'popping out of the screen' 3D effects or, the disappointment of Episode I as a whole from it's premier in 1999.

I just saw the film and I must say that it is quite an impressive job they did converting a film that was originally in 2D into a 3D feature.

I constantly caught myself looking all around the screen as if I were inside Lucas' science fiction world that began 35 years ago.

The 3D conversion adds much physical depth to the film that it's almost startling sometimes. This was Lucas' original intent (REAL Star Wars fans are aware of this) . He did not mean to turn the film into a 3D roller coaster that would contend with the likes of today's films that are written and filmed specifically for thrilling it's patrons with it's 'jumping off the screen' effects.

As far as the quality of the story and acting of Episode I, that's another issue I'm not interested in debating. E:I, you either love it or hate it, and I loved the film.

In short, this 3D re-release is for STAR WARS FANS....not 3D fans! 3D fans go see Journey 2 or some other crap.
