Can we get the Star Wars Holiday Special remastered in 3D?

So how does one get to this comment section? I had to post a review to even see it!

This is a real case of false advertisement ... This is nothing more than fake 3D. And they charged you extra for it.

I think redone fake 3D movies should stay at a normal . What a rip off

I went with my wife and 4 kids to see it and told them during the movie that they could take off their glasses and the movie would look the same either way.

I'm an undying Star Wars fan, but even I admit the 3-D did not help the movie. If anything it was a distraction from the film. Flat shots of the Tatooine landscape and Federation control ships angered me and kept me from really watching the scenes. What stood out in 3-D was Liam Neeson's face. That's about it. I will always love Star Wars 1-6, but this film single handedly makes me change my mind on the digital 3-D experience. Look, if you want to shoot a movie in 3-D, you go right ahead. It will look great. But the 2-D to 3-D conversion format does NOT WORK! Among many reasons is because 2-D movie action sequences are edited for 2-D viewing. Films cut for 3-D have lengthened shots that allow your eyes to focus and notice the dimensional effect. Quick cuts prevent your eyes from adjusting to the depth. By the time they do adjust, the shot has already changed, and all you can think is, "That shot looked like it would've been cool looking if it hadn't already cut away." Episode 1 might've worked if I could hit the slow motion button. My point is, this frustration makes 3-D distracting, and at times hard to focus on the film. 3-D is for 3-D shooting okay! It's for the eyeball to pop out of the screen in a Jason film. It's for you to shout, "Whoa!" If I want to simply watch 3-dimensional people sitting around and talking, I'll go hang out with my friends, in the real world, where everything is 3-D. Sorry but, as a fan, I have to prefer the 2-D version of the film. More than that, The Phantom Menace has swayed me from any desire to own a 3-D television or 3-D Blue Ray. And with all due respect to Lucas and Star Wars fans out there, is anyone else getting a little tired of the, "I planned it this way all along," excuse? Planned it this way? Didn't shoot it this way, but intended it this way. Right. And I read someone else blaming the flat 3-D on the projectors at certain theaters. Are you telling me that the same theater that screened an excellent presentation of The Final Destination 3-D somehow failed along with hundreds of other theaters to light Episode 1 correctly? Gee Lucasfilm, why don't you just go ahead force everyone to upgrade their projectors again like you did with Episode 2! I'm sorry but no one went to see this for nostalgia and no one went to see this just because it was on the big screen again. We all have the dvd. Many of us have the movie memorized. And I have digital 6.1 sound. At my house, it is on a big screen. So going to the theater and paying $11 just because it's re-released on a bigger screen is the equivalent of saying I'm tired of watching the film without strangers talking and crunching snacks all around me. We went BECAUSE it was in 3-D! THAT was the marketing strategy! End of story! I work hard for my money and I saved this film for my birthday and I'm sorry but the experience was disappointing. Everyone releasing it knew it would be, they just don't know how to tell Lucas to stop. Lucas, please, you're making your very own devout fans sick to the core of the Star Wars franchise's greed. Can you hear us over your money? Pfft, like you care.

We watch the clone wars series every weekend and have massive star wars collections so this is an AWESOME big deal for us! THANK YOU GEORGE LUCAS for all the Star Wars Awesomeness through out our lives!!!!! I for one couldn't imagine life or scifi with out it!!!!!

I had no plans to see it after the fake 3D I experienced after having seen Thor, so I knew this would not do. He should have re-cut this movie anyway. Maybe the other new ones might have better 3D or should have better 3D since it was mostly computer.

The 3D thing was total rip-off. They should've just re-released it for fun. Even so, it was nice to relive one of my favorite childhood memories.

Personally, I am sick of all of the fake 3Ds that have been coming out. The only real 3D I have seen has been at Universal Studios and Disney. These movies going out charge as much #$%$ more for 3D and they still look flat!. It is false advertisement and an excuse to charge more. When are they going to give audiences real 3D???

The ET's were there in the original. Also the pod from 2001 Space Odisey, the son of Mark Hammil and Lucas' adopted son. But what were the new scenes?

CGI Yoda. He was a goofy looking puppet originally.

I just watched Episode 1 with my son and his friend (both are 8). It was fun to watch the movie with them because they are at the age where it is a very exciting movie. However, the 3D was barely noticeable. I would have been a lot happier if they had just re-released the movie "as is" and charged the usual $8 or $9, as opposed to the $3 3D surcharge. I won't get ripped off when Episode 2 comes out.

The movie was wonderful. I found Andy #$%$ work as Jar Jar to be Oscar worthy. Also, who ever forgot to pay Liam for his final two weeks should be ashamed. Making George float down from heaven itself, KFC, and waste several hours editing Qui Gon Jinn's early demise because the actor walked out early was inexcusable. And Yoda's gay. ...as in homosexual.

Qui Gon Jinn, "Who are these people, and what are these 'camera' devices of which you speak?" Waves lightsaber at lens, and a piece slices off.
"Your going to have to pay for that!" Says the whinny gentleman with the portly stomach. "Your going to have to pay for that or sign a merchandise deal!" George says again.

I'm going to see it tonight. I saw it originally and loved it. Thanks for the review, I know not to expect the experience I got from Avatar.

I have to say, man was that boring. I left early because I forgot that I've seen it half a million times and just because it has slight 3-D qualities, doesnt mean that I should have spent the 9 bucks or wasted the 2 hours of my life.

@mathew about the darkness and washed out look of the movie...it was your theater. The same thing happened to be with frightnight. It's a setting on the computerized projector that messes up the 3D color scale. Turns everything VERY dark.

My experience with Ep 1 was bright and vibrant just not worth to see the conversion see my review as well.

every 3D movie is like that

Your theater must not have had a digital screen. The screen I saw it on was digital and the movie looked superb. The 3D didn't add much but it was clear and not blurry. They spent 10 months on the 3D. It's just a gimmick, but the movie itself looked great. Clear, crisp and awesome to see on the big screen again. I wasn't bored at all and although I've always liked the movie, I became a bigger fan after seeing it again. Being older, the political stuff was more interesting than when i was younger and only cared for the action scenes. Palpatine is my favorite character and his scenes really stood out, thanks to the actor Ian McDiarmid, or however you spell it. The guy was born to play Palpatine.

Was still great to see on the big screen but the picture was fuzzy/grainy in my theatre as well.

You know what? I saw it in 3D and I actually enjoyed it this time. Yeah, the annoying parts were still there but my hatred for Jar Jar faded a little when I heard my 5 year old laughing at him.
Plus! The last light saber scene was the best of all 6.

The fight scene with Darth Maul was far and away the best out of all the movies. If not for that, The Phantom Menace would absolutely suck.

Would I like to see Star Wars in 3D? Sure. But I really want to see Episodes III-VI in 3D. I didn't think that much of Episodes I and II.

every saga has a beginning, folks. I'm looking forward to seeing my 7 yr old see this on the big screen. which should remind us all, the entire saga is FOR CHILDREN!!!!!
All you haters need to go look for whatever you're missing from your life elsewhere.

why would you want to see another movie with Child Anakin again with his absurdly lame movie lines courtesy of George Lucas, the world's worst dialogue writer. "oops", "cool!", "now this is podracing!", please kill me before the lameness swallows me whole. the only thing worse than Child Anakin was Teen Anakin and his hilariously bad acting. I don't fault the kid, at least he's just a victim of his bad lines, but teen Anakin should be a somewhat accomplished convincing actor - which he wasn't and won't be.
