When I was a young white kid, growing up in a predominately black neighborhood, The Beatles, The Beachboys, Dion and The Belmonts, The Rolling Stones, and other great bands were rocking the nation. But there was this other sound. "Soul" music. Motown was the king of soul music. And in this era of 45rpm records, American Bandstand, and the transistor radio, I would prop my head on my pillow and fall asleep to the music of Mary Wells, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Supremes, and many others well worth mentioning but too many to count.
Learning that the same musicians were on most of these "hits" was astounding to me. The Program was very well done and captured the part of it all that few of us knew. The very history of the motown sound we loved, The musicians.
This program really brings it all back. I now have a stronger appreciation for The Motown Sound.
