I went to see the movie on Labor Day with my best friend, my sister. I had seen the original in the past. I think the orginal had more character then the remake, but the remake was ok.
I was disappointed by the fact that Sister didn't die. That was an important part in the original and should have been carried to the remake. Sparkle should have been able to "shine" at her sister's funeral when singing. Having Sister in jail didn't do enough for me. Also the fact that Whitney having died from an overdose would have been a nice irony to the remake.
Great choice in actors/actresses.
