This movie tried very hard to be wholesome. Within the first few minutes of the film, we had two short scenes at "church" in a outdoor setting with plenty of soft-rock contemporary Christian music. It was so corny that one knows that only a true story could justify such cheesy cheerfulness everywhere.
This story is actually quite moving and inspiring. I think it would be great to make it clear that this girl's faith in Christ was important. What made it corny was how cheerful and bright everything was. Her two brothers felt like just about the nicest young men you'd ever hope to meet.
These people didn't seem real, and that really detracted from the effectiveness of this film. It's a shame.
