Okay, so this is a Disneyfied watered down version of Ray Bradbury's All Time Classic Novel, which ought to be required reading come Octobertime. But hey, at least he wrote the screenplay, and what's more, is that the acting and direction in this movie is excellent. This is the story of two young boys who live in Green Town, Illinois...and as dark storm clouds begin to gather late one October, a Dark Carnival comes to town, bringing with it magic and mystery and intrigue. Mr. Dark, the owner of the carnival, grants wishes to the denizens of Green Town, but with very high stakes. The boys learn of Mr. Dark's secret, and they are pursued by him...he WANTS them, you see...to join his little Carnival along with all of "The Autumn People"...delightfully sinister, and still containing many spine-chilling moments, this movie is PERFECT family viewing for Halloweentime.
