This is the worst Bond movie ever! Director Sam Mendes has done an awful job of Bond by making Bond arty, and probing Bond's psyche. Why go there? Bond is the quintessence of class, style, power, strength, sophistication and masterfulness; not a flawed and self-doubting character; otherwise he would not be Bond. Craig comes from a style of arty, 'theatre-style' acting, and to no small extent has influenced the Producers to go that way, and hire his buddy, equally arty, 'theatre-style' Director Sam Mendes, and other arty actors. A little too much artiness to be good for Bond. As I left the movie, I couldn't help thinking that this movie was childish, made by childish minds. A lot like Home Alone, as mentioned in some reviews. The script and the direction came across as feeble and clumsy. The Director also hired his buddy Newman to compose the soundtrack which was equally uninspiring. Most critics (pre-release), raved about the movie, but post-release the theatre-going public were mostly disappointed, and bored (in part thanks to those rave reviews and media build-up). I was one of those Bond fans duped by all the 'The Best Bond ever!' hype, and rave reviews. This movie has made a lot of money through clever manipulation of the media. Sadly, that brilliance did not extend to the movie itself.
