Skyfall(2012)- User Reviews

Great Action but too many locales and too little character development

This film is a visual feast for those who love elaborate stunts involving the usual chase scenes and explosions . They are stitched together one after another in several locales around the world . While I enjoyed the action sequences which were filmed with great cinematic flair , I longed for a story with dialogue between characters . I only got snippets .

The best Bond film had fleshed out characters with a great storyline . I refer to Goldfinger in which Bond ( Sean Connery ) was tweaking the nose of his sinister adversary , Mr. Goldfinger ( Gert Forbe ) , throughout the entire movie . The movie sported wonderfully acerbic dialogue between the two and was like watching a chess match . And who can forget the repartee between #$%$ Galore ( Honor Blackman ) and Bond ? I can remember the lines nearly 50 years later ; I saw Skyfall 5 weeks ago , and I don't remember one . It is sad that the Bond films have come to this point . I suppose that we as an audience have also become dumbed down because the producers give us what their market research tells them we want .

This movie has been overhyped as " the best Bond film ever " . It isn't , not by a long shot . But , I did enjoy it purely for its cinematography and elaborate action scenes . Pleasureful now but forgettable in the future .
