So normally, I would never go to those kinds of movie theaters that show 'blockbuster" types of movies nor would Bradley Cooper ever pique my interest as an actor. I only went because I think Jennifer Lawrence is one fine up and coming actress. I saw her in "Winter's Bone" and thought she was great. I really am a movie snob, I admit it. But I was pleasantly surprised by Bradley Cooper's acting in this movie and of course Jennifer is a delight. Good acting is what one expects from Robert DeNiro and so it's great to see him in another movie that is not a stupid comedy. And pairing him with Jackie Weaver who was so fabulous in "Animal Kingdom" (one of the best movies of 2010) just enhanced the role of the parents of Bradley's Cooper's character. Can help but think that some of Robert DeNiro's obsession with football was a takeoff of the parents in Buffalo 69 (another Indie film so worth watching). Anyway, I don't usually waste my time spewing my film choices and exposing my biases but here it is. This movie is well worth the Matinee price I paid to see it.
