A great Date Movie!

I went to the movie thinking it would be a typical "girls flick". My wife would love it and I would hate it. The story starts out in the middle of a very bad situation Cooper’s character is getting out of the loony house. The details are a bit confusing but as the story takes shape, I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it and the development of the various characters. The acting was above average and the story ending was excellent. I loved De Niro's character. His OCD personality reminds me a bit of his role in “Meet the Parents". Cooper is very convincing as a guy in need of Anger Management and Lawrence also sells her character well. She does several really funny lines about her past or current sexual problems. Your never quite sure.... Cooper's character is funny too when he tries to defend Lawrence's sexual problems to others but it is quite apparent that everyone in town is well aware of her reputation. (…even the police). The movie appears to have a lot of local Philly humor and stereotyping. The middle-of-the-night domestic fighting waking the entire neighborhood and the un-yielding love and loyalty for the local sports teams. I have met a number of people from Jersey and Philly that this movie made me think of. The friends of Cooper are hilarious. I especially love the character of Tucker, who was in the loony house with Cooper and tries to get out several times on technicalities. His dance lessons are great. I also enjoyed the brother-in-law of Tiffany. I don’t know the actors name, but he was convincing as a husband under financial stress trying to please his wife (out of his league). There is one scene in particular which is especially funny where he attempts to discretely describe his financial stress to Cooper and places his hand over his face in an attempt to symbolize suffocating himself. Funny stuff. The message Cooper’s character takes from his experience is that everyone has a "bit" of crazy in them. The difference is how they cope with their "crazy" side that determines if they get a silver lining or not. I might be willing to see the movie again in the near future to try and pick up some of the lines I missed in the first viewing. I give the movie 4 stars out of 5. A good date movie but probably not first date. :-)
