Humor to Prevent Avoidable Death-SICKO

star55

SICKO uses humor, irony and imagination, and solid facts to expose the U.S. health system and show workable alternatives.

To often we shy away from the topics of suffering and death, especially if they are both avoidable and close to home. SICKO overcomes this human tendency by the devices cited in a the paragraph above.

As important as exposing preventable suffering and death is providing an alternative. Here as well SICKO excels by showing us alternatives ranging from Canada to Cuba; from the UK to France: the single payer system in every industrialized country EXCEPT the US.

SICKO tells us that we do have the power to spare ourselves and the rest of the country from premature death and torrents of suffering.

I hope the successor to SICKO shows that the current health system is designed not merely to enrich billionaires but to disinpower the 99% of Americans who are not billionaires.

Without quality, universal health care, we, the 99%, are bullied to refrain from political activity knowing that the loss of an insurance linked job exposes us and our families to the horror of life with without health care. We are therefore afraid to protest even the grossest inadequacies of job linked health care, much less demand that we get the same deal as every other industrialized country in the world. SICKO hints at this fact, but does not have the time to drive the fact home. Nor does SICKO have the time to show that by cutting DOD's budget, which endangers us more than protects us, we would have abundant $ for high quality health care for all.
