Oppression as EntertainmentBy Yahoo! Movie User on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 12:52 AM EST
Not the most impressive film especially considering the director was none other than Paul Verhoeven. It could have been something-like a murder mystery slash offbeat take on cop shows and cop movies set against a backdrop of the so called action of Vegas-the Big Town. Instead it was an oppresive romp into sexism and low IQ jokes that were not even funny even if you are drunk. I guess I should not be surprised-a bit of research shows that Mr. Verhoevens earlier career as a Euro director put him at the head of films that were sometimes even unwatchable under the very wide open standards of 70s Surrealistic European Art Cinema. He got better creds than he deserved with the film Total Recall, probably.I think this is one of the worst film ever made in the history of Cinema.
