Admittedly I do not care for Robert Downey Jr. as I feel like everyone of his characters are a reprisal of the previous ones which I usually find mildly annoying. Sherlock Holmes was good movie at times. At times,the actions became really confusing. Especially, at the end of the movie. The old movies with Basil Rathbones were good Sherlock Holmes movies. This one does not cut it.more»0 of 0 people found this review helpful-

Startlingly good slo-mo/stop-action sequences. Very nice period costumes. Koodos to the sound guys that recorded dialogue so perfectly that we never wondered, what did they say? A great story with lots of twists and turns, a red herring or two, it will keep you on your toes. True it's not the Sherlock Holmes of the books, it's better. Downey is at his best and hits every note to perfection. Action scenes are realistic …more»1 of 1 people found this review helpful-

The first felt like a darker copy cat of James Bond in the old times, but it was actually watchable, Downey Jr. gave a mesmerizing performance!

Hollywood appears to be trying to make an action hero out of English literature's most famous forensic intellect.
The first half of the film was one special effect after another - with the plot difficult to perceive.

I have never been as distracted as I was during any film as I was during this movie due to continuous 'subtitles' repeating the dialog and even indicating background noises, etc. on the bottom portion of the screen
