Shaft is considered to be the movie that paved the way for black exploitation films. Richard Roundtree gives an excellent performance as John Shaft the cool tough harlem private eye. Based on the novel by Earnest Tidyman ( who also wrote the french connection) and directed by Gordon Parks (the best black director of his time) and scored by the legendary Issac Hayes who won an oscar for the most famous movie song of all time (Shut your Mouth). This movie spawned two sequels (Shafts Big Score which reunites Parks and Roundtree and Shaft in Africa and it spawned a remake in 2000 starring Samuel Jackson). The final sequence of the movie is very entertaining as is the rest of the movie. The movie contains many memorable qoutes like "What you got" "I got laid what about you".I definitley recomend this movie.
