"Even though it is probably the goriest Saw film, this sequel also really focused on its story and characters. A few unanswered questions were clarified and it had a satisfying amount of traps as well. Saw III also took the series in a bold new direction with its risky ending. That decision could have sunk the franchise, but the consequences were just the opposite. Four more sequels ended up happening and the result is that the Saw series is the most successful and the first massive horror franchise since the Scream movies."
