Salt(2010)- User Reviews

Am not a usual reviewer, nor a well-immersed spy-thriller type audience. I was intrigued w/idea of woman in James Bond-type role, and was pleased it was not another Tom Cruise I-can-do-anything-and-survive shoot-em-up.

I was intrigued mostly with plot-in-plot stories. I don't "get" how people think these things up, and I don't know if real life actually mimics this or vice versa. Do the Russians and Americans really fight like this at some level? Are there bomb bunkers and doors and electric panels w/o backup power in the deepest recesses of various government complexes? I don't know. I don't want to be a patsy, but I do like thinking most people are nice most of the time.

All that said, Jolie's choice of role intrigues me. You can see the good guys hesitating a moment for shooting, and that is their downfall (documented in street-defense courses). I can see the spy thinking fast. I can see the "how could you fail to notice this" moments on both sides.

So I liked it. The ONE SERIOUS FLAW is the shoot-out with bullet proof glass. C'mon ... it's bullet proof. Why waste time? OTOH, the spider venom was a nice touch.

I can't wait to see what Salt II delivers next year.
