Rust and Bone is a fine film

This movie portrays two people unwilling to show their sensitive side. You really feel sad for the little five year old son who is devoid of much affection; you feel sad for the lead female character who suffers terrible loss from her accident. It is filled with wrenching scenes of pain without comment. You keep thinking how strange it is that the father shows so little warmth towards his son. You finally realize he is incapable of this. You get no flashbacks on anything about the lead male actor and why he is so lacking in these ways. As for the female lead, you figure she must have suffered experiences of rejection and abandonment in her past. I kept waiting for some signs of affection between the characters, some way they would let down their defenses. The physical suffering and accidents in the movie were very trying. You feel sorry for these people and yet you know they have redeeming value. This is an intense film that finally resolves enough so you can walk away with the ray of hope. The acting is superb. The story is well told. The film is well worth seeing.
