If you're gonna JUMP THE SHARK, you might as well MAKE IT TWO.
While I love the franchise, I was disappointed with this installment. It felt disjointed, like it was written by a handful of writers that did not talk to each other and a separate writer was tasked with stitching it all together with a lick and a prayer. There were more than a handful of issues with the staging of the action. Like when a car's tail end is clipped crosswise by a semi-truck and it flips up end-over-end vs being spun out sideways as one would expect. Or when a number of the main characters set off and explosion that happens within mere feet of them, sending a vehicle flying away from them, but they don't so much as have their hair puffed up from it. There was a very nice gamer feel to the movement from scene to scene, and while this is not new territory it is still appreciated. The acting by many of the supporting characters was stilted, stiff, or done with a lack of passion for the part they were playing. The premise for the movie seems to have needed more massaging to get the desired affect. The final moments or the film left me expecting something more to happen. I just never got the "WOW" feeling from this round. Also, the movie is stated to be 117 minutes long, but the in theater time was more like 90. All in all, I felt the script and support acting was much MUCH better in the first three installments of the franchise.
Blue Zombies?!? Really?!? I understand the premise, but we honestly didn't need to see them out of the water.
Sincerely,
PS--Coo do'es for the following:
Milla Jovovich (love and respect)
Michelle Rorigues (uber tough girl)
Oded Fehr (can you say charisma? wish you had a bigger part)
Boris Kodjoe (eye candy that can still talk)
Aryana Engineer (good job playing deaf, hon)
