I really think Chris Columbus(the director) scored a lot on this film than he did on Mrs. Doubtfire. For Rosario Dawson, she's great in this film as Mimi. As Ebert and Roeper always say: Two Thumbs Up, Way Up.more»1 of 1 people found this review helpful-

2 years ago, I saw RENT on Broadway at the Nederlander. I was amazed. The music, the visuals, the amazing acting. It instantly became on of my favorite shows of all time. I saw Rent late, barely last year almost a decade later than when it came out. So some of the impact it originaly had due to the AIDS epedemic was sort of diminished. Aids, sex scandals, poverty, drug abuse, life, death, love, deceit, passion, and uncertainy. All of these real life characteristics are displayed in this musical.
