One of the Best Football Movies Ever

After I watched Remember the Titans for the first time, I was surprised by how much I was affected by it. I was just as affected the 2nd time, and I still love the film each time I see it.

The films is set in Alexandria, Virginia in 1971. Two schools have integrated to form T.C. Williams High School. Coach Herman Boone Denzel Washington) has taken the place of coach Bill Yoast (Will Patton), who was a state champion winning coach of the white school to the chagrin of his daughter (Hayden Panatierre) and the white players including Gary (Ryan Hurst), but to the joy of the black players including Julius Campbell (Wood Harris). Ultimately, Yoast stays and the film mainly follows the relationship of coaches Boone and Yoast, and star defenders Julius and Gary, as well as the troubles and triumphs of the team.

The acting in the film is great. Washington delievered his typical Oscar-worthy performance. Will Patton did too, however it isn't so typical of him. In fact, Patton's more subtle performance to go along with his inspiring speeches may have outshined Washington. All the player actors are very good, especially Hurst.

With a perfect story, a very strong cast with two great performances, suitable football action, and a very strong emotional punch, I will not forget the Titans.
