Synopsis

In 2000, South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TARC) travels across the country, conducting hearings and granting amnesty to those who admit responsibility for apartheid atrocities. Human rights lawyer Sarah Barcant returns from New York to her childhood village to work on the case of Alex Mpondo, now an ANC parliamentarian, who in 1986 was tortured by policeman Henricks. Alex's agenda is centered on the disappearance of his friend, imprisoned at the same time.
