Aging may not be the end

A touching, beautifully acted depiction of people in the twilight of their lives. They just happen to be former opera singers and musicians. The fact that the principal actors don't sing, even when they are supposed to be singers makes no difference. In fact, when you know the production back story (all of the supporting cast that perform were former singers and musicians) it is clear that Hoffman was acting out of respect by not dubbing in voices for the finale.

The four principal actors are wonderful, the story is engaging and the setting and cinematography are perfect. Maggie Smith and Tom Courtney capture the regret of love lost without a hint of sentimentality and Billy Conolly is a wonder. Go see this with your parents or grandparents and reflect on life to come.
