As far as a sci fi horror goes this one really makes you do some thinking. If you can't get into the side stories and the characters your going to miss a lot of the atmosphere that the director intended for you to get.
As far as a movie addition to the Aliens saga this adds a tremendous amount of depth to the series. It was pretty damn scary too. Some of the scenes had my hands clenched and my stomach in my throat. It has a ton of potential for making us think about a divine creator of the universe and science.
My only complaint as a person who fully understood the story line unlike some of these lame brain reviews. Some things that happened were left completely unexplained like why the Robot did some foul play. It was a huge story changer and there was no explanation for it. In the end you still had tons of questions and with no real sense of direction. But since i liked the sci fi horror ride i have no choice but to see the sequel and hope the director can give the movie a great sense of depth when answering the lingering questions.
