The premise of a father trying to reestablish his relationship with his son/ex-wife and also trying to find a career after being a star athlete is good. The insane characters with whom the father must deal, is bad. Leave out Carl King (played by Quaid) and his dizzy wife (Uma) and leave in and develop the Catherine Zeta Jones (o my) story line, and the story is solid gold. Entertaining but just OK..
