I stumbled across this movie on Netflix. I knew nothing about it but it seemed interesting so I took a chance and rented it. I am sure glad I did. This ended up being one of my favorite movies of 2009. Its not as good as Avatar but better than the Hurt Locker (which won the Oscar). I kept thinking how come I never heard of this movie. I live in Orlando, FL so am thinking it probably wasn't even released here as I looked on Box Office ****.com and see that it did most of its box office gross overseas where it made over $28 million. It only made $8 million or so in the U.S. so was probably just limited to the big cities like LA and NY. I am surprised they didn't market this movie more or give it a wider release as it is a very good movie (waaaaay better than many mediocre movies that gross $100 million or more). I am thinking maybe the mostly British cast made it less marketable here in the U.S. Regardless you should definitely see it. It features great acting by big name actors Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, plus the hillarious Nick Frost and British stars Bill Nighy and Rhys Ifans. A super cast. The story is great, the music is great, its funny, its thrilling, its got it all. Overall an A-, very close to an A. Also, its got one of the coolest movie posters as well, just a really cool movie top to bottom.
