I saw the movie on 12/26 at a discount theater and had no idea what it would be like. I loved it. The acting was superb. Even though I'm a 50-something it brought back many memories and made me laugh and cry quite a bit. Our high school (and college) years are some of the toughest as well as the best. I noticed that other reviewers either loved it or hated it. It apparently depends on the viewer's own life experiences, values and emotions. I have reserved the book and the DVD at the library...it will be a while because there are about 200 people ahead of me for both.
