Good, but should be rated PG-13! Parents, be warned.

There is much to recommend in this film, and as others have observed, the VFX are spectacularly well done (thanks to the untold hours of toil expended by underpaid and under-appreciated artists)
However, there are numerous sequences, including torture, that should not, I repeat NOT be shown to young children.
The story is the real problem here. The entire script was written from the wrong point of view, in my opinion. In the original film, the Wizard was a charlatan, a faker, and nearly got Dorothy and her friends killed, and when exposed, left Oz in shame. Why would you think that making a film that features how he came into power would be something we all would enjoy?
This film should have been written from the point of view of Galinda, not the wizard -- she is a truly heroic figure, and one that would have made the film epic instead of just mediocre.
