I go to the movies to get lost for a few hours and I hope that whatever it is I am seeing pulls me in and keeps me engrossed throughout, this movie did that and more. It kept my interest and there was enough edge to it that it didn't come off slow. As far as the performances were concerned everyone does a good job, they are all believable. Those people who like to bash Tom Cruise will likely continue to do so forever but the fact is he is good in almost everything he is in and some cases has even been much better than good. (The Last Samurai, Magnolia, Tropic Thunder, Vanilla Sky, Jerry Maguire, Rain Man, Born on the Fourth of July, A Few Good Men, Interview with the Vampire, Collateral, Valkyrie.) There are very few actors around that have been in as many good films as he has and out of the 31 features he has headlined there are a few that are no as good as the rest but I wouldn't call them bad either, with the exception of "Legend and Rock of Ages", but I didn't like the movie and it had nothing to do with him. The short of it all people is that everyone has an opinion and they are not all wrong and they are not all right. "Entertainment Weekly, hated "Forest Gump", I don't know about you but it's one of my favorites. Go see Oblivion and judge for yourself, most people will be happy they did.
