Confusing Movie

Can someone explain the story line to this movie. It starts out her boyfriend gets shot in a store and ends they die together in the store then she's photographing him. Did they/he die? What happened to the shooter/killer in the movie? This was the most confusing movies I've seen in awhile.I'll have to watch it again to try and understand it.
