Nothing Is Forever

Never Forever is a small independent film. The film could reach a larger audience with a savvy marketing mechanism, unfortunately it only make $13,720 from the box office. I, personally love this movie, it is very slow moving emotional but powerfully acted! I can see why some may not appreciate this movie but I truly felt its beauty and the rawness the love portrayed.

Sophie (Vera Farmiga) is the wife of affluent Korean attorney Andrew (David McInnis). The first time we meet the couple on the day of Andrew’s father’s funeral. Andrew attempts to take his own life because the couple struggles with infertility. Sophie’s only way to stop her husband’s suicidal is to find a way to conceive a child with Andrew’s sperm, is a nearly impossible feat. When Sophie was in the clinic she spots the Korean Jihah (Jung-woo Ha) being rejected as a donor because of his illegal immigrant status. Jihah, who works several jobs from dry cleaning delivery boy to meat cutter in order. He needs money and Sophie is willing to pay him $300 for each sex encounter and a $30,000 when she gets pregnant. They meet secretly in his apartment, and unusual moment affair begins. In the beginning it's all business. The director Gina Kim take a close shot to Sophie's blue eyes which irresistible to Jihah, who later buys a new bedspread to match her eyes. And though Sophie enjoys every moment in her lovely Brooklyn home.

Sophie is a misfit in her marriage because with all the pressure with Andrew's family. She don't believe in religious like the family does and don't know how to pray. Jihah, who tells her he left Korea because he didn't fit in there too. Both in a similar situation and this is how they fall in love. Gina Kim is often impressive and subtle. The music is beautiful and stands out, making it seem less a part of the film and more like an obstacle in the way of our viewing. She left the ending with a mystery picture.
