Of the three film versions of this famous story, this one does still remain the best. Factually, it may all be extremely dubious, but it has lost nothing in entertainment value over the years.

It's classic. A classic novel made into a classic film with great classic actors. What more do you want?

This is a fine movie in every respect, but what is most outstanding is the acting, with Clark Gable, Charles Laughton and Franchot Tone performing brilliantly. The story departed a little from the book, but thankfully not too much.more»1 of 1 people found this review helpfulTop Box Office
