A movie that is part documentary and part fiction of an Arab school mistress who cares for orphans in her Middle east town. One star pupil is Miral a youth that is brought to the residential school by her adopted father for a better life.
Miral is caught between becoming an underground freedom fighter or becoming a well educated woman. She luckily chooses the latter and leaves for Europe to begin college as the movie ends.
To see the wonderful mosques and churches of Jerusalem again on screen is like revisiting the Holy Land. Perhaps the most serene place on earth has to be the Mosque of Aska,carpets on the floor and incense burners dangling from the ceiling and birds flying thru. Can peace be far behind?
