This movie is an example of a good idea poorly executed. I really like the idea of people who romanticize the past going back and meeting their idols. However the movie in reality was annoying
1. Owen Wilson is not nearly neurotic enough to be a Woody Allen stand-in. It's obvious the movie was directed to have a character like in Annie Hall, but then Woody realized he was too old to do it.
2. The costuming was rather blase at best. I know Woody Allen makes cheap movies, but this just lacked in being really visually appealing.
3. The Wife and parent characters seemed unnecessary. I understand he was trying to make some sort of materialistic/anti-republican statement, but these characters were more two dimensional than a drawn tetrahedron.
4. The Dali character seemed tacked on, just so that he could have Dali there. I mean really, talking about time travel with Dali? How convenient.
Overall the movie was very mediocre in my opinion.
