Metal gets a proper docuementary treatment in 'Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. Sam Dunn is an anthropology major and an avid metal fan. For his term paper he decides to take on one of the wildest music genres around in the form of a documentary: metal. Part of the reason 'Metal: A Headbanger's Journey' is such a good documentary comes from the beautiful handling by Sam Dunn who not only makes one respect the genre but also laugh at its wild nature in some crazy interviews. He argues some of the common misconceptions of metal (such as the genre sparking murderous and/or suicidal behavior) and the antics never get dull. It does tend to leave a few pivotal bands out of the picture but in the end it follows it's own philosophy: like it, enjoy it, don't like it stop watching and move on.
