Woody Allen is finished and desperate. He's remaking his own movie (Crimes and Misdemeanors) with hot young actors to cash in. And he's doing it poorly. It's pathetic.
Everything about this movie is either bad or at best mediocre. It's boring, phony, and all-around silly.
It's a soap-opera ("General Hospital" is better) in disguise of an "intellectual thriller". Everything is contrived and unbelievable. Characters just do stupid things to move the plot along so that Allen can make a half-baked, pessimistic point. He's trying to emulate Claude Chabrol, except he still comes off whiny.
Quite embarrassing.
