Martha Marcy May Marlene(2011)- User Reviews

The movie was ok,an Indie film, not one of the typical hollywood types one would see at a Century 20 thank god. My objection to the movie was that there was just too many unanswered questions. Who was the man that was murdered and did he have any connections to the cult members,and why was he killed? Because he had a nice house? What was it that drew Martha or Marcy Mae to the cult to begin with? What was the deciding factor for her to leave her biological family and in the end leave her cult family too?
Also, there did not seem to have any real connections between the members of the cult and Marcy, it seemed very superficial. The ending disturbed me the most; if they could cold-bloodedly murder a complete stranger (assumed) what would stop them from killing Marcies' family, an innocent group of people who only wanted to help their sister but that they(the cult) would interpret them as kidnappers, stealing away a valued member of their family and a witness to a murder and other illegal happenings.
In the end I was more worried about Martha's sister and brother-in-law the most. They seemed to have the most real relationship between all of the cast members and wasI afraid for their lives. Boring, no. Just wish it had more answers than questions.
