Though the writers started with a creative idea, their follow through gave us an extremely violent movie. Not just shooting/killing in general, but it involved children. I say this so you can make a valid judgement before watching with your own eyes. When the concept veered this direction, the level of disturbance elevated.
It was a clever script, even with the violence, but if I had known it involved violence around children I would have opted out of giving my psyche this visual. Yes, time travel is intriguing and we all want to experience the creative ideas around it, but there is no positive in this time travel theme.
Watch with discretion. Looper is definitely R and NOT for young kids. I personally think even [most] 18 yr old kids are not emotionally settled enough to deal with this imagery. How one needs to process it takes a knowledge of life lessons that is well into ones 20's.
