Very Theatrical ...Not Sure What To Really Think

I guess we went to this expecting a small biography of sorts about Lincoln. Instead it focuses full bore on the 13th Amendment and all the bickering on that issue.
Myself and 4 others, all over age 52, went to see this. There were times we looked at one another, not knowing what was said or happened. Still not sure a day after!
The movie is not at all a biography nor is it a documentary. It focuses on Lincoln's role in the 13th Amendment. That's about it.
It's a hollywood movie and full of theatrics. Most of the film is long dialog, and there were 3 parts that were a sure reminder that this was a movie made in 2012.
First, in the very first scenes, 2 African American soldiers are speaking to Lincoln. Perfect words and perfect dialect. If you read any of the slave narratives from the 1930's no one spoke so clearly or so theatrical.
Then there were the 2 curse words. S... and F... were used in the movie. I am not even sure those words were around in 1865. To me, it did not make the movie realistic, but just another movie.
The movie is ok, just long and drags at times. The acting is good but like another guy who reviewed the movie said, it does seem like the actors knew this movie could win awards, and seem to go overboard with their roles at times.
Not sure what else to say. This is not a movie you will go back to see over and over again. Not a kid movie at all. Not a date movie.
Let me say, no one clapped after the movie. No one noted a particular scene as memorable. No one cried. We just sort of ...left ...with everyone else. It was ok. I think that summarizes it pretty well.
