I was hoping for a powerful personal and professional biography of Lincoln, and instead I had to sit through 2 1/2 hrs of political b.s. where the end justifies the means, even by "honest Abe" himself.
I will say the acting, costumes, directing, etc. was very good. DDL was awesome in his role as Lincoln, as were many other actors phenomenol in their portrayels. The storyline was a bit boring in that it was so limited on this cat and mouse political b.s. over the 13th ammendment.
However, I do not believe this movie's account of how Lincoln handled the abolishment of slavery. He was a God fearing man, not a reckless, arrogant "do gooder," imposing HIS beliefs regardless of the means on the nation he loved and respected. I believe he would have acted with the fullest of integrity. I think once again Hollywood is rewriting history into liberal propaganda.
The end (bribery, half-truths, politics, etc.) does NOT justify the means! That is one thing I truly believe Honest Abe would have agreed with. May God have mercy on us as a nation and a world.
