Lincoln, could just have easily been titled Thaddeus Stevens.
The movie was not about the last months of Lincoln's life but about the political machinations required to acquire and retain the votes neccessary in the House of Representatives to pass the 13th Amendment to the Constitution. While Daniel Day Lewis and Sally Field give magnificent performances, as much of the movie centers on Thaddeus Stevens and his vision of a socially just world. Another good Spielberg movie.
