I realize some viewers who like the shoot-em-up school will find this movie slow moving, but for those willing to look deeper it was an excellent viewing of
a time that has reached down through history to shape our days now. The script by Tony Kushner did not condescend to the viewer. He took us through the public and private hallways of Lincoln's
life at a critical moment. Daniel Day Lewis did not
rush his reactions, but he showed us the thoughts
that led to a great man deciding great events. Steven Spielberg is to be commended on releasing this film at a time of the country's disfunction...while the script did not jump to point out the parallels, they are there.
