Lincoln(2012)- User Reviews

Excellent depiction of a time in our history

Having seen the other films of Lincoln I felt this portrayal appeared to be the most accurate and "real" in its depiction of what Lincoln must have been like during this period.

Daniel Day Lewis is truly a great actor, able to make you believe in his portrayal of Lincoln. Very moving and natural. Makes all others seem stiff and stagy.

Everyone else does a wonderful job of capturing the mood and emotional turmoil brought on by BIG change in the country.

Someone wrote; "Sally Field overacts." I dis-aggree, I felt her performance was delivered in the spirit of a woman who was probably very dramatic in real life and lived with constant headaches. I thought she was very believable. The little I've read about Mary, Sally seemed to embody what I've read was her demeanor.

It was long but seemed to move fast. Spielberg not a favorite director was able to use restraint here. Take a look at "Amistad" for an example of his heavy handed treatment of historical drama.

I rarely see movies twice... but this is one I'd like to see again.
