Best Historical Movie

For the fans of historical drama, great movie making and acting, this is it. We loved the politics, reason, thoughtfulness and deep character development. Very fine. This relies less on action, violence and sex and more on skillful acting, storytelling and character development to tell a compelling and moving story.

We found plenty of relevance to modern day events. The depiction of lobbying, horse trading and smoke filled negotiating over glasses of whiskey was completely fascinating.

There is loss, soul searching and drama as the war slowly winds to a close and a vision of post civil war America begins to dawn.

Lincoln is shown as a flawed man of great vision and courage and an expert negotiator, willing to stretch the truth and the law for the good of the future country and his own views. Each major character faces his or her own moral dilemmas, which give great depth and meaning to this excellent film.
