I probably read the book many years ago in high school. My daughter (a junior) just read it this past semester. She told me about it, and it sounded interesting, but nothing really for me to dwel on.
Then we saw it was coming to theaters. She wanted …more»2 of 2 people found this review helpful-

The 1998 version with Liam Neeson was ten times better. If it wasn't for the strong performances from Hathaway, Banks, and Redmayne this would have been a total bomb. I would not consider this a family movie with the two sex scenes and prosititution. …more»2 of 7 people found this review helpful-

Samantha Barks was amazing. Hathaway was super strong. A couple other lesser known actors (who's names I can't easily find) were very good. Seyfried was dead behind the eyes as always --- is she even an actress? I'm sorry, thats mean -- I'll …more»5 of 6 people found this review helpful-

I am not a die hard Les Mis fan nor am I a die hard musical fan. I saw the movie because of all of the hype and I tend to see Oscar worthy movies so I have an opinion about who the Academy hand the little gold statue to.
All in all the movie was very …more»0 of 1 people found this review helpful-

What a waste of money...I left after 1 hour of depressing singing by a bunch of non-singing actors. Although the scenery and spectacle of the grey drizzly life which was probably very authentic early 1800s France which is no doubt CGI was well done I …more»2 of 6 people found this review helpful-

I thoroughly enjoy the theater version and was sceptical about the movie. But the movie was able to fill in some of the details about the Victor Hugo novel that the theater does not always capture. I thought that the performances were amazing and the …more»0 of 0 people found this review helpful
