Shia LaBeouf is totally unbelievable in the lead role. Does he really draw enough young viewers to justify ruining an otherwise pretty good story and action movie? Bad acting doesn't matter in a cartoon action movie such as The Transformers. It makes all the difference in a movie trying to be a quality biopic.
Good direction, story, cinematograpy and good acting by the other lead actors (especially Guy Pierce and in a too limited role by Gary Oldman) is severely diminished by the presence of the lightweight Shia LaBeouf.
